I create representational figurative sculpture in individual works, limited editions or by private commission. Long term projects include:

The Figure: This work revolves around capturing nuance of gesture, posture and feeling in a variety of full or partial figures. Interpretive as well as more realistic pieces flow from work with models, photos and imagination.

The Face: The human head and face continue to provide me challenge and reward, capturing expression, emotion and, when everything lines up right, finding a way to show Spirit through these simple lumps of clay. I do this work also as a commissioned custom portrait of a child, family member or leader.

Spiritual Themes: Saints and Arahants (Awakened souls), have always walked among us to guide our way and help us through this life. These sculptures are my way of thanking these people for their courage and compassion, and can help us catch a glimpse of the peace, the depth, the intelligence and the love that is possible in this life.

Arts Biography: My arts background started early and intensively in photography studying under master photographers, entering contests and building my own darkrooms throughout my teens. I then set aside most direct creative arts activities for 20 years, establishing myself in business, including founding a leading digital design firm, and raising a family. Since 2002, I have undertaken an intensive study of sculpture under noted figurative sculptors, Michael Keropian and Ron Mineo of Art Life Studios in Port Chester, NY, and in classes with Tony Antonios at the National Academy of Art in NYC. My work has begun to be included in juried sculpture competitions and shows, regionally and nationally, and has been purchased for the private collections of several Westchester County residents, and by national spiritual organizations. I also wrote Work Less, Live More: The New Way to Retire Early, published in 2005 by Nolo Press, where I describe how I re-structured my life to be able to sculpt full-time.
