ARTIST STATEMENT I have been creating art, mostly abstract, for over 40 years. I work in various mediums – acrylic on canvas and paper, reliefs and collages, photography, leaded glass and furniture design. Sculpture has been an important part of my work. I recently completed a marble and limestone sculpture installation, titled "Meditation Circle" on permanent display at the new Sculpture Meadow on the Hudson, Yonkers, NY.
My work is energized by the coalescence of synchronistic elements -discovering relationships of colors, the growth and evolution of ideas, composition, textures and moods that evolve from the process of creating. My use of found objects gives them a new meaning, a new beauty. Although I enjoy the various interpretations people attach to my work, I want each piece to be seen as the object it is, to stand on its own, not to need explanations.
I am interested in subjects ranging from the cosmos to the microscopic, mysteries of the ancient world and mysteries of today. The origins of life and the unknown have inspired me and opened my mind to new possibilities of expression and creativity. Much of my recent work reflects an evolving spirituality.
A quotation from Albert Einstein’s "What I Believe " that fully resonates with my personal philosophy is, "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science." Paul Greco RESUMÉ Born West Point, New York Resides 279 N.
